Amsterdam - Zuidas

Client: Nuon Warmte

Termoekonomi is involved in the first district cooling project in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The system will go into commercial operation in spring 2006. It will supply comfort cooling and process cooling to offices, a university hospital, a conference centre, telecom facilities and residential buildings. This installation will be the first large district cooling system in the Netherlands.

The production plant is initially designed for a cooling capacity of 50 MW with possibilities for expansion to 65 MW. A nearby lake will be used for free cooling and condenser cooling. The idea is to manage 50 % of the maximum capacity with free cooling. The intake lake water pipe has an outer dimension of 1100 mm and is 2 km long.

We are managing the overall technique of the system. For the production plant and the lake water system we have a Construction Management assignment. The client has shown great interest in our documentation system as well as our experience in operation and maintenance of similar installations.
