Heating and Cooling for the Olympic Village, Beijing Project: Centralized heating and cooling for the Olympic Village Comission:System design Client: Beijing Tianyin Geothermal Development Co, Ltd Year: 2005, comission summer 2007 Capacity: 30 MW cooling, 20 MW heating Our first commission in China was the system design for a centralized heating and cooling system for the Olympic Village in Beijing. This also included a throughly pre-design, investment budget and profitability analyzes. The task was to create an environmental friendly solution combined with a good economy. A high accessibility was of course also a strict request! We designed the system with heat pumps using treated sewage water for heating in winter and cooling in summer. The sewage water is distributed in pipes from a new built pump station at 3 km distance from the village. The production plant is located in the mid of the village. Heating, hot tap water and cooling is distributed from the production plant to the apartments. During summer one of the heat pumps produce hot tap water, the others cooling. Our pre-design was quite detailed and included the complete thermal energy system; pump station, pipes for sewage water, production plant, distribution networks for heating, cooling and hot tap water and also the terminals in the apartments. The system was in operation before summer 2007 to be tested in good time before the summer Olympic games 2008. Back>> |
