New Production Plant 105MW District Cooling in Stockholm, Sweden Commission: Feasibility study for expansion of the district cooling system in Stockholm. Client: AB Fortum Värme samägt med Stockholms stad Year: 2008- The district cooling business is continuously growing in Stockholm. The market prognosis indicates a capacity shortage in 2013. The shortage will increase to more than 100 MW in 2020. Termoekonomi investigated the possibilities for an expansion with 105 MW in the central part of Stockholm. Besides the production capability we also had to study the distribution network to see how this new capacity could reach the customers. Another strict condition was that the production must be based on an environmentally friendly technique. The feasibility study identified some 10 different locations. However, all of them use cold water from the bottom of the sea at the east side of Stockholm. The water intake will be at 30 m depth close to where the famous 1700-century warship Wasa sank. The result of the study was very positive and we are now continuing the project with applying for miscellaneous permissions and performing a pre-design. Back >> |
